This really is a very beautiful bird and now you have "it" modelling!! Do you know if it is a male or female?
I think the name is perfect AND what a great photo!

Stunning!
I know nothing about birds, but, I swear that bird is being coy!!
Good observation! And you know what I started to name him/her? Diva. Course I reasoned that it might be like a boy named Sue if it turned out to be a boy bird. So I opted for something refreshing, something sweet, and to be colorful and playful at the same time. Tic-Tac. I think it works....but (and don't tell) he/she can say it, well sorta. I don't speak bird yet but it seems as tho' that what she/he is saying, well sorta... :-)
Not yet. But I've been reading up on these birds, well, duh! Anyway, it takes a blood test, or DNA sample or something called an endioscopic test to determine a Sun Conure's sex. So maybe that's something for future consideration. I was at Barnes and Noble bookstore today looking at all the bird books. Well, okay, not all of 'em. Anyway, you should see all the beautiful birds that come from Australia! I had no idea. How could you leave such a paradise? Well, okay that may have been a bit insensitive...but Australia is listed long and deep when it comes to beautiful birds. I really do appreciate your kind words of encouragement Emjay! :-)
Thank you Catalina! I'm kinda torn between hoping and wanting to find whoever owns this bird and well...not. I hope that doesn't sound bad. I was reading todday at Barnes and Nobles that a Sun Conure is the most likely of all the companion birds to become homeless. That was the word they used. Went on to say that a lot of people are attracted to the beautiful conure but because of its loud screaming many people simply abandon or try to give one away. Something about not having the temperment for a successful relationship, well, but it was a bit sad. But I can understand how people misjudge their own appetites, or perhaps desires. Anyway, the library is about to close so I gotta go, thanks for your comments, your encouragement, and your friendship :-)
I hope it turns out that "it" is a she and you can change the name. By the time you find out, though, you and he/she will be too comfortable with Tic-Tac!!
I never gotten around to DNA testing my Green Cheek Conure, so until an egg appears I am saying it is a boy ;)
Yes Australia is a paradise! We have beautiful birds and wonderful unique animals - the platypus even made the front page of the Washington Post today!
How so? Perhaps a comparison/contrast to Mr. Bush? Ah, Emjay, the things my mind envisions armed with an analogy betwixt the president and a platypus...Okay, I won't go there....but its so tempting!
Oh - I don't know about that! The Platypus is a really cool, interesting animal - I would not say the same of Mr Bush! It is in the press because scientists have deciphered their entire DNA code. It suggests that it is natures first stab at making a mammal. It apparently inhabits an isolated branch of the evolutionary tree and only has one cousin and that is the echidna (which is also an Aussie). It has really funky things like snake poison stored in its legs! (not sure how handy that is really!).
That is an interesting suggestion. Do you mean nature's first attempt or the only surviving member of first attempts? While we are on the subject, isn't a koala bear an isolated member of the evolutionary tree as well? I mean its native to Australia only isn't it? So is Australia the place where Mother Nature stores her mistakes and hopes so she doesn't do it again? I mean Australia seems to have a number of interesting flora and fauna that are found no where else in the world...right? No? Well, it seems like paradise to me and seems Mother Nature quite agrees.

Damn I was sick the day that you posted this. Tic-Tac. I love it. Quite the pose. It knows it is beautiful. In the world of birds the males are usually the pretty one. Tic-Tac is beautiful. So does it fly around? Watch out for cats and mites.

I applied for a visa or whatever to move to Australia, but my income was to low.
Hurt my feelings.
